On a routine patrol Monday afternoon, a warning by the cruiser’s Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) alerted a Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer that a nearby car might be a stolen vehicle.
Once the car – filled with five occupants – turned into a Port Carling service centre, the officer confirmed it was a stolen car.
Police have charged a 22-year-old North York man, a 23-year-old Caledon man, 25-year-old Caledon man, and 23-year-old Scarborough man each with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of break-in instruments.
Police have also charged a Mississauga man, with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of break-in instruments and possession of heroin.
