A man and a woman were seriously injured following a four-vehicle collision on Bank Street at Lester Road Friday afternoon, according to the Ottawa Paramedic Service.
Paramedics say the two adults were taken to hospital in stable condition.
Ottawa Fire Services says the collision prompted crews to extricate the occupants of the vehicles involved.
Firefighters say they received a call about the crash at 2:11 p.m. When crews arrived at the scene, they confirmed that it’s a four-vehicle collision. Airbags had deployed in all four vehicles and people were trapped inside, firefighters say.
It took about 10 minutes to get everyone out of their vehicles.
Crews also spread absorbent on the leaking fluids and disconnected the batteries of the vehicles before leaving the scene in the hands of the Ottawa Police Service.
Police say Bank Street southbound is currently closed at Lester Road.
“The incident is currently on-going, as such no further details will be provided,” said the city’s police service in a statement Friday.
