RCMP are reminding Albertans to take care at railroad crossings after a truck crashed into a train in Mayerthorpe.
Mounties said the driver crossed the warning lights and ran into a moving train near 52 Avenue and 51 Street on Tuesday at around 6 a.m.
The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
RCMP are reminding people to stay vigilant at all train crossings and to always look both ways before crossing.
“Our regular day-to-day vehicles are generally no match for a train,” RCMP said in a release.
“Moving trains cannot stop or slow down nearly as fast as your vehicle and it is up to you to ensure you are giving the train tracks enough room to pass by and to abide by traffic control devices, whether that be the flashing lights, or the drop down gates, or stand alone signage.”
The Town of Mayerthorpe is about 120 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.
